Blog Archive MBA News Dardens Dean Bruner to Step Down After Ten Years
Blog Archive MBA News Dardens Dean Bruner to Step Down After Ten Years After two celebrated terms leading the University of Virginiaâs Darden School, Dean Robert Bob Bruner officially announced this week that he will be stepping down at the end of July 2015, with plans to return to the schoolâs faculty after a one-year leave of absence. Over the course of his decade of service as dean and previous 23 years of teaching, Bruner has served as executive director of the schoolâs Batten Institute, led two curriculum overhauls, hired world-renowned faculty, elevated the schoolâs academic profile and raised $150M to fund several new research initiatives. As a press release from the school explains, a committee has been appointed to find Bruners successor. âWe will conduct a thorough search and offer opportunities for all of Dardenâs constituencies to engage in the process,â commented the schoolâs executive vice president/provost. Bruner made his intentions to step down widely known before the schoolâs official announcement, attributing his decision to his academic passion. âI love to teach and write, for which I entered academic life,â Bruner wrote on his blog, adding, âBeing Dean is quite exciting but crowds out the deep reflection required to teach, research, and write very well.â Share ThisTweet News University of Virginia (Darden)
