When I think of racialism, some events that come to mind ar the civil rights movements in the mid-20th century, the Los Angeles riots in the 90s and slavery in the 19th century. All of these recent events in history argon proofs that racialism is still prevalent and that there is much tension amid spate of opposite races. However, few, if any people ever name racism against Asians. Asians are considered the model minority of ships company. They are stereotypic eithery head to study relentlessly, are often engineers, keep to themselves, and are half-hearted but intelligent people. These racial stereotypes, defined by the Encarta lexicon as oversimplified standardized images of a person or group, objet dart often much positive than negative, are stereotypes nonetheless. Even I often realize a bun in the oven my Asian peers to be math, science, and business majors. When I hear that they are pursuing a degree in a different field such as euphony or art, I am astounded and need to deal out a second to pull myself together and continue the conversation. Unfortunately I have completely forgotten the concepts I learned in those courses, yet they still assume that I would know save because I am Asian and thus supposed to be erect at science and math.
